5 Game Room Painting Mistakes To Avoid Making in St. Louis, MO

If you’re not familiar with the idea of a game room, it’s basically a room in which you can gather with friends and family and play games – and there are a lot of different sorts of games that you’ll be able to play in the room ranging from board games to even billiards if you should so choose.

The thing about a game room is that if you don’t paint it correctly or make mistakes while doing so, it’s entirely possible that you will have to go back and paint again or make corrections that are going to cost you quite a bit of time as well as money — neither of which are all that preferable when you want to update the look of your game room.

With that being the case, here are five game room painting mistakes to avoid making in St. Louis, MO

1. Using The Wrong Sheen

One thing that you could possibly do quite incorrectly as far as painting your game room is to use the wrong sort of sheen when painting the surfaces.

There are a number of sheens that you can consider using for your game room walls but the right one is going to depend on a number of factors.

If you are expecting a lot of people to visit the room at the same time and there’s the possibility that the walls will get a good amount of contact, it will be necessary for you to make the walls to be easier to clean — and in that case, you will want a higher gloss paint.

If however, you don’t expect that to be the case, it’s perfectly okay for you to use a more flat paint as that isn’t easy to clean per se but can certainly look nicer on the walls of your game room.

2. Not Cleaning Before You Paint

When you’re thinking about painting your game room, you have to put out of your mind the erroneous notion that painting is just something that you’re going to be able to do and that whatever else is there is just going to get entirely and easily covered.

That’s not the case and you have to make the time to clean the surface that you are cleaning as if you do not do so, you will be looking at what is basically a set of walls that are dirty but covered in paint — and that’s just not a look that you want in your game room.

By making the time to clean the walls and then allowing time for them to dry you will have a much better looking set of walls in your game room.

3. Not Considering Creative Design

Since it’s going to be your game room that is getting painted, if you don’t even consider making at least one of the walls into one that has a creative design, it would definitely be a bit of a mistake even if you don’t end up losing out on any time or money as a result of it.

As a game room, there should be an air of excitement in the air as it were, and as such there should really be more to the walls than just plain solid colors — but of course, if that’s all you’ll be able to manage, you will just have to make it work with what you have.

4. Using Boring Colors

Another mistake that you could make when you’re painting your gaming room is to make use of boring colors.

True, there are many colors that would be perfectly fine for any other room in your house but this is the gaming room we are discussing and you are going to want to use colors that are full of life and flavor so to speak.

5. Leaving The Furniture In The Room

Lastly, you have to make the effort to remove the furniture from the room when you are looking to paint the walls.

The reason that this is so important is that if you do not do so, you will likely either get paint on the furniture itself even if you make the effort to cover it with a drop cloth or you will have the furniture get in the way as you are trying to paint.

Either way, it’s better to remove as much of the furniture as you can before you paint.
